General Body Meetings
Held at the beginning of every semester, UFA's GBMs provide members with information about events we have lined up for the next few months. Students will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas for new events to the Executive Board, and learn how they could get more involved with UFA by filling open positions on the board or committees when they become available.

Freshman/Sophomore Case Competiton
Held annually, the Freshman/Sophomore Case Competition provides underclassmen with the opportunity to make use of the skills they have acquired in their intro level classes, and receive valuable feedback from a distinguished panel of judges. There are no prerequisites for this competition, and students come away with experience in delivering case solutions and professional presentations. Students are allowed to form teams of their choosing, and all competitors will present on the same evening.
PNC Bank has sponsored this event for the past four years.

Professor Dinners
UFA sponsors a small group of students to go out to dinner with a business, economics or finance professor. These dinners occur frequently throughout the year, and allows students to interact with faculty on a more personal level. Professors who have been involved with this event in the past include Dr. Milton Cofield, Prof. Emilio Osambela, Prof. Tim Derdenger, and Prof. Stefano Sacchetto.
Guest Speaker Series
Companies often send CMU alumni back to campus to speak about their experiences to UFA members. We also host guest speaker events when faculty members present on a topic that is of interest to business/finance students. Past speakers include Chester Spatt, former chief economist at the Securities & Exchange Commission, and Scott Patterson, a senior alumnus from Merill Lynch.
Carnival Alumni Panel
Every April, during Carnegie Mellon's Spring Carnival Weekend, UFA hosts a panel of Tepper alumni who take part in an informal Q&A session with members. This is a great opportunity for students to find out more about life on Wall Street and to network with alumni who may be able to help with jobs and internships upon building a lasting relationship with them.

Finance Case Competition
Held once a year, UFA's Finance Case Competition provides upperclassmen with the opportunity to test their ability to apply their financial know-how in a practical setting. In order to enroll in this case competition, students must either have completed or be currently enrolled in either Finance (70-391) or Introduction to Math Finance (21-270). Members from any class level or major are welcome to sign up provided they meet the coursework requirement. The case and prompt will be distributed to teams four days before their presentations are due in front of visiting judges. Past sponsors include Morgan Stanley, UBS, and Deutsche Bank.
Network Manhattan
During the summer, UFA's Network Manhattan brings together CMU students and interns with alumni and representatives from a wide range of New York financial firms at a local hotel. Network Manhattan is a pure networking event, so students will not be able to bring resumes. However, we do compile a resume book (for students who attend) to send to interested alumni and recruiters. Students from all majors and years are welcome, and the event is free to attend. Network Manhattan is co-sponsored by the CMU Career Center and the Tepper School of Business.
Wall Street Intern Panel
At the beginning of the academic year, we host a panel of seniors who have just returned from their internships at various companies. This is a great way for students to pick up networking tips and receive pointers on how to be successful during interview processes in the upcoming season. Returning interns will also speak about what to expect after being hired as a summer analyst, and address issues ranging from work hours to how they stacked up in comparison to their peers from other colleges.
